Guru Chitra Nagraj is a renowned Carnatic vocalist and music educator based in Sydney, Australia. With over 42 years of experience, she has established herself as a respected figure in the Indian classical music community, inspiring countless students through her deep knowledge and devotion to the art form.
Guru Chitra holds several prestigious music qualifications, including a Certificate and Diploma in Carnatic Vocal Music from Telugu University, and a Sangeet Visharad in Carnatic Music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She has also trained in Hindustani vocal music, earning a Praveshika Poorna degree from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
A registered artist with All India Radio and the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Guru Chitra has performed extensively on radio, television, and prestigious cultural stages across India and abroad. She has also founded the Sruti Music and Cultural Academy, registered under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, to promote Indian classical arts and nurture young talent.
Over the years, her musical excellence has been showcased through numerous concerts, devotional programs, and student performances. Recognizing her contributions to the arts, she has served as a member of the Film Censor Board, Government of India, for over 15 years. Guru Chitra has also released a devotional album titled “Ramanjaneya Ganamrudam.”
A passionate educator, Guru Chitra has dedicated her life to teaching Carnatic vocal, devotional music, Sanskrit shlokas, and bhajans to students of all levels. To continue her mission globally, she established the Hamsadhvani School of Music in Sydney, where she continues to share the rich traditions of Indian classical music with students around the world.
